Simeon Varlamov

How much could this hockey card be worth one day?

I have a signed Hershey Bears 2008-2009 player card of Simeon Varlamov, which is during his rookie year, and I was right in front of him while he was signing it and I have a picture with him to prove it. Since he has become amazing and is now up in the NHL already at such a young age. I was just wondering could it be worth a lot one day (10, 20, 30 years from now)? Also another thing is not a lot of people have his autograph because he was only in the HAL for about two months.

These days playing cards do not give back a very good investment. The card will never make you a significant amount of money. Depending on how many of these minor league cards were produced and how many survive over time will have an impact on the value as well as of course how well Varlamov's career goes. A signed card doesn't necessarily raise the value of a card. In some cases it can devalue the card because collectors are looking for cards in mint condition, that don't have tears, bends, creases, marks and even ink from signatures on them. The card would be of higher value to a future fan of Varlamov's that wanted a signed piece of memorabilia. Having a photo of him signing it is good but depending on how much memorabilia that Varlamov signs over his career will effect the value.

Even Wayne Gretzky's rookie card would only get you about $800 at the most. Using wayne Gretzky as an example, it would be best to use a card that will have a lower value to be signed by the player. I would not use Gretzky's rookie card or any other rare and valued card.
