What is with the referees latley with the Red Wings?
I am a huge Red Wings fan, and I know this might seem bias, but as a "NHL FAN" I am very upset to see the bogus miscues I have been seeing latley with the Red Wings. If you remeber earlier this month Detroit had a goal taken back against Anaheim that was not interference by Holmstrom, Giguere had all the room in the world to move in the crease to make that save, and the goal was nullified, it cost us a goal that would have tied the game with about a min left in the 3rd. Now tonight against the San Jose Sharks in the 3rd period the Wings were down 2-1 trying to get the game tied when a deflected puck went over the glass and HIT THE MESH!!!!!!! the puck came down to ice level and Setoguchi hit the puck into the goal when everyone had apparently stopped playing and ALL 4 REFS didnt see the puck hit the mesh and called it a goal!!!!!. We then got our 2nd goal later on the PP which woulda been the tying goal. Instead we lost. Regardless who ur team is, the NHL needs to address this issue!
For whatever reason, when things are going bad, they just go bad. Obviously there is no plot against the Wings...it's more a matter of when these things happen and you're winning, you don't remember it very long. When you're losing these things are magnified.
Both the goals you talk about should be addressed, though. The Anaheim goal was a reputation call, pure and simple. Any other player but Holmstrom would not have had that goal disallowed, but the ref was looking to make that kind of call based on his reputation. The kicker is --- somehow Holmstrom didn't get a penalty. So was it interference or not?
The mesh issue needs to be addressed, but I just don't think anyone exvisioned 4 officials missing the puck going out of play when the review rules were put in place.
Truth is, calls went against them early in the year, too, like all teams. We could just shrug them off, that's all.
