Nhl Florida
If the NHL were to retract which four teams would you drop from the league and why?
My choices:
Florida Panthers - Little visible support beyond Miami and Ft Lauderdale and they are not competitve enough.
Columbus Blue Jackets - Lets face it, they are never going to be that competitve are they?
New York Islanders - Probably more contraversial than the other choices but when you have the Rangers playing in downtown NYC does the Big Apple need another team?
Carolina Hurricanes - Too many teams in the South. Hockey is a winter sport and belongs in the North therefore, its the chopping block for the Canes.
With fewer teams maybe the NHL can share the wealth in terms of audience, profit and player talent better than spreading itself far and wide. What do you think?
If 4 had to go.....
1). Nashville Predators-If you are battling for the President's trophy and can't draw more than 12,000 fans a game, you don't deserve a team
2). Phoenix Coyotes- As many have said before, hockey doesn't belong in the desert.
3) Washington Capitals- I can't believe no one has suggested this yet. They have exciting young talent, and nobody in D.C. seems to care. When they're good, attendance is bad, and when they're bad (like this year), the attendance is absolutely terrible.
4). Florida Panthers- Southern city, poor attendance, not likely to be a winner in the near future. Send this franchise to Canada where it would flourish, good or bad.
If there's any justice in the NHL, Winnipeg should get one of the franchise's that relocated. But the NHL seems to screw everything up, so my guess is we'll see the San Antonio Predators or something equally ridiculous in the near future.
