Great One
Can extemely high cholesterol cause one to have great difficulty in breathing while their asleep?
My wife is average weight and doesn't have any health issues. I know she needs to go to the Dr.so don't go there. Just want to know the answer to the above question thanks.
To me, I don't think breath problems would come from high cholesterol. Maybe one of the followings:
- there are some people who suffer from "sleeping-apnoea". They fall asleep and rise in the middle of the night because they've lack of breath. Most of the time this is caused because of some abnormalities in the upper respiratory ways: in the nose cavities, etc. She needs to check nose and throat by a ENT-specialist, especially if she uses to sleep with open mouth and snores.
- Usually, people suffering from certain heart disease have this kind of breathing difficulty. You may check her heart too. If this is the case, she may need to sleep with two pillows.
- Sometimes, breathing problems come because the gastric liquid is coming back to throat and mouth (lots of salivation) which block the air-paths. In this case, she needs to sleep with two pillows, lying on the side (not on her back), have the dinner at least 4 hours before bedtime, and if the symptoms persist, must pay a visit to the doctor.
These are some causes of difficulty while sleeping. Your doctor will visit her and find the right cause. Do follow doctor's advice too. Good luck!
