penguins fans, how do you feel about your team?
the penguins made it to the stanley cup finals and lost to the red wings, as i assume most of you know.
prior to that, they traded Colby Armstrong and Erik Christensen, prospect Angelo Esposito, and their 2008 NHL Entry Draft first-round pick for marian hossa and pascal dupuis.
Ryan Malone, Marian Hossa, Ty Conklin, Mark Eaton, Georges Laraque, Jarkko Ruutu and Gary Roberts all sign with other teams during free agency.
i am not sure if my facts are right, i just did some copying and pasting, but the point is, the penguins lost a lot of depth and they just plainly lost out on bodies. with pittsburgh 10th in the east, how do you feel about your chances?
i'm a wings fan, bytheway.
I still feel we have a good chance, to go to the playoffs. I will not lose faith in my team, until we are mathematically out of contention. If we have Crosby, and Malkin, basically 2 out of the 3, Icons and young top stars of the NHL, things can't be that bad, can they? If we have a goalie, that was on fire in the playoffs, and is making 5 million per year, he surely has to provide something sooner or later. Point is, Penguins have it in them, to be able to win tons of games. Problem is, we are losing games, we should win.
I don't know what it is, but maybe Therrien should have one line and stick to it. Because we are having some serious chemistry issues. Now we can thank injuries too, as a contributing factor. At this portion of the season, I think we can safely say, Penguins need Gonchar more than they once thought. But with multiple injuries, just happening to several players, at alternating times, is just unfortunate is all.
Is this team better or atleast the same from last year's? Absolutely Not.
Can this team still make the playoffs? Yes
Penguins just need to get more consistent, and they need somebody other than their 4 C's (Malkin, Crosby, Staal, Kennedy), to contribute to the team. Sykora has been the most consistent winger this year for the Pens, but that isn't saying a whole lot. Whenever the Penguins decide to get consistent, then just watch out Carolina, or Buffalo, because this team is loaded with talent, and can get hot (or cold), at any time of the year.
